Worked example: anything the provider charges $0.20 for costs $0.20 on Simpler. On a subscription platform the same thing works out at $2 to $5 or more, once you count the monthly fee you pay whether you use it or not.
Simpler makes no money on AI work, including images, video, audio and document pages.
Top-ups
Top up $5 when you need credits.
New accounts start with platform credits, enough to run the forecast and explore before any top-up decision. Minimum top-up is $5 USD. Credits never expire. No usage = no bill: your account stays active whether you use it this month or next year.
Some users top up $5 and it lasts six months. Some top up $5 every week. Both are normal.
Free forever
What never costs anything
These are explicit $0 policy entries in the pricing config, not marketing rounding:
AI used inside a free tool (a receipt scan, a question about a document) is charged at the provider's price. The text AI on models we host stays free, and the tool itself never charges.
Why this shape
A week's groceries in KL shouldn't equal one month of software.
The $5 minimum top-up is calibrated for Southeast Asian income reality, against the $20 global SaaS default. Most AI platforms charge you monthly whether you use them or not. A $20/month subscription costs $240/year regardless of usage. Simpler costs what you actually use.
